Cesc Fabregas advises Mikel Arteta on how Arsenal can beat Antonio Conte’s Spurs

Cesc Fabregas has detailed what Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side will need to do to get the better of Antonio Conte’s Tottenham in Thursday night’s crucial north London derby.

The two rivals go head-to-head at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an all-important clash in the race for the top four.

The Gunners currently hold a four-point lead over Spurs with three games left to go, meaning a win for Arteta’s side would secure Champions League football for next season.

Tottenham held title-chasers Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield last weekend, while they have beaten league leaders Manchester City home and away this season.

Fabregas, who played under Conte for two seasons at Chelsea, has told Arsenal they require ‘a lot of intensity’ and will need to be ‘very well structured’ to beat a side managed by the Italian coach.

‘I’m sure Mikel analyses the opponent very well, but Arsenal will need a lot of intensity if they’re going to win this game,’ the ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder told LondonWorld.

‘I know exactly how Antonio works, I know this methodology very well.

‘If I was a coach, I could get by managing with all that he showed me in the two years I worked with him. Spurs are very well structured, they use the wing backs very high.

‘They are intense and, a little bit like Arsenal, they try to build up from the back to draw the opponent out.

‘Tottenham have world class players up front as well in [Heung-min] Son, [Harry] Kane and [Dejan] Kulusevski.

‘Last weekend against Liverpool they gave them a game. If you’re going to beat a Conte team you’ll need to be very well structured.’
